Conference Earth - A Decade of Action
is dedicated to facilitating practical projects to heal Planet Earth
on a global scale. It aims to make apparent the essential connectedness
of humanity and the environment and promote an openness of dialogue
with a view to creating a sustainable future. Conference
Earth represents a new manner of thinking.
The dramatic changes in world population,
resource utilisation and energy consumption hold major implications
for the environment. Virtually every aspect of Earth's ecosystem
and resource base is currently affected, threatening the continued
survival of the human race and all life as we know it. The environmental
crisis and the crisis of deepening poverty for many of the World's
people are indivisible and an enormous change of attitude is required
if we are to survive.
Sustainable survival of the human race is
dependent on new ways of thinking. Our speakers are all experts
in innovative thought in their chosen fields. They are catalysts
for our forum to develop new paradigms which can be translated into
practical action and outcomes.
The aim of this conference is to show that
within the context of our society there is a occurring a major change
or shift in paradigm in the way we view reality. The new way of
thinking shows that everything maintains itself at the expense of
everything else and that at the deepest level we are all connected.
In this respect we all are part of a (karmic)
chain of cause and effect and for a business to succeed we need
to take into account what the business needs to do to create for
itself positive karma or good causes.
We live in a world which is currently being
mutilated through the irreversible loss of living and non living
resources. The vast poverty and inequity in the developing world, the
suffering caused by the exponential growth of wars and the vast
exponential rise of the military industrial complex has a subtle
negative affect on our ability as a species to survive sustain ably.
The aim of this conference is to highlight
what we have become as a species and to look at what kind of scenarios
we wish to create for ourselves in the future.Do we wish to create
a more cooperative and caring global society or will we persist
in ignoring increasing inequity and poverty in a world which is
already in crisis from environmental degradation.and climate change.
'We shall require a substantially new
manner of thinking if humankind is to survive'
