An
Image of Dreams
------------------------------------------------------------------
by
Michael Ellis
Even now
Your breath upon my cheek
Is an image of dreams
Made real by imagined themes
Wherein your form transmutes
To a thousand delights
And reality with image fights
To express the truth
Of what is just and right
And the secret voice
So subtle in my ear
Is it you and you alone
Or but a wondrous idea
And
Have We meet Before
------------------------------------------------------------------
by Michael Ellis
And-Have we met before
And-Have we met before
In some other era
And did I know the depths
Of your enigma
And is this life
But a veneer
For a hidden career
And the game
Is hidden
In the name
And the pieces are set
Like Knight to Queen
So whoever moves
Whether pawn or King
The irrevocable fate
Is Check mate

In
The Silence of The Night
------------------------------------------------------------------
by Michael Ellis
In the silence of the night
Beating down on my ears
Your mute image appears
And I wonder what you think
And what you are doing
In such a distant land
I would like to hold your hand
And listen to your fears
And take away your tears
For so much of you
Is enigmatic to me
Even in my dreams
The blonde woman seems
A multitude of themes
But I cannot deny your heart
Or the uniqueness of your soul
The sensitivity of your mind
Is but one of a special kind
That in the depths of my life
Your beauty gives design
To so many poetic lines
Of words and metaphor
Kindling strange feelings and doubts
And reflections forlorn

On Summers Day
------------------------------------------------------------------
by Michael Ellis
On a Summers day
We may meet
In the warm haze
Of a scent laden bouquet
Of a flower filled glade
Face to face
In the leafy shade
Our words fade
In the echoes
Of a lazy day
And time stands still
As the moments rest
And even our thoughts
With merriment and jest
Sink into reveries
Of silence blest

Silence Lies
in Wait
------------------------------------------------------------------
by Michael Ellis
Silence lies in wait
Within and without
The murmurs of cars
On the sleek highways
Beyond the occasional bark
Of an enclosed dog
Silence lies in wait
In the throng of traffic
And the debutante ball
The football crowd
And magpie calls
Silence lies in wait
For the two bearded men
Who talk on philosophy
with intensity of conversation
Their eyes in deep concentration
Silence lies in wait
The all pervading silence
Is an unknown state
From which we barricade
Ourselves with articulation
This vast canopy of life
Is an all consuming vibration
Subtly trembling and touching
Caressing and untold
Neither within nor without
A tapestry unrolled

The
Empty room

On a Summer`s day
That we did agree
The Wilderness
And Have we not met before
The expectation of Truth
To bind the heart and mind together
Silence lies in wait
The mystic element of the Soul

The Expectation
of Truth
------------------------------------------------------------------
by
Michael Ellis
The expectation of truth
Before your form revealed
The cipher deciphered
The subtlety exposed
So deeply musing
So passionate
No moment
Finds you wanting
Enigmatic and revealed
In the moonlit night
I find you waiting
Expression of longing
In the golden sands
Of time
Sunlight on your mind
I see you laughing
Golden haired child

The
Mystic Element of The Soul
------------------------------------------------------------------
by
Michael Ellis
Sounds in a city
Silent thoughts
Compassion, pity
Harvest moon
Darkening sky
Evanescent clouds
Passing by
Galactic colours
Electric storms
Murmurs of the deep
Child's sleep
Unseen paths
Birds in the sky
Morning sun
And fire flies
Priest's face
Silent prayer
Enfolding mind
Mystical sign
Deepest fusion
Uni-verse
Hidden treasure
Every life
Weaves the Law
Of Infinite sound
Ocean currents
Love and despair
Everything changes
Everywhere
Karmic signs
Human laughter
Meaning grows
As life unfolds

That
We Did Agree
-----------------------------------------------------------------
by
Michael Ellis
That
we did agree
To return as now
And keep a vow
Made aeons ago
That
we may all conspire,
And with our combined hearts see
The Secrets of life,
The Bliss and ecstacy
And from the depths of our being,
Living loving and seeing
In all experiences and extremes
We know life is not what it seems
We know no boundaries
We seek no fame
For the cut and thrust
Of a facile game
But blend invisibly
In hidden array
Stewarding the earth
Both night and day
A vast protective force
Of ideas and dreams
Filled with expectancy,
Our aims and themes
Change the feudal system
And the military machine
And open up the hearts
Of all human beings

The
Wilderness
-----------------------------------------------------------------
by
Michael Ellis
This world is
But a veneer
Of mundane reality
Froth on foam
A sanitized view
Of consumer lives
Where DVDs and videos
Tipex the waves
With colourful audio
And between the vision
And the breath
Is there less
Or is the awe
We once held
So dear
Lost in the mountains
And moonlit nights
Nature's breathing
And the vast muted silence
Of the Wilderness

To
Bind the Heart and Mind Together
-----------------------------------------------------------------
by
Michael Ellis
To bind the heart and mind together
To bind the heart and mind together
To see with truth
The tangled webs and snares
To unlock the knots and bars
Yes-Love can unleash a power
That explodes ,cherishes and empowers
It can in the heart of things
Dispel illusion and create trust
It can indeed ennoble and free
